Welcome West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics members!

Did you know that 75 years ago a small group of nutrition professionals had the vision and stamina to form our affiliate? Thank you to those pioneers from whose work we continue to reap benefits. I love West Virginia Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) and Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians (NDTRs) and our students. You all are educated, hard-working, creative, and best of all, fun to know. You care about our "Mountain State", including our people, our environment, and our culture. I appreciate learning from you and watching the synergy that happens when we combine forces on a project. This present fiscal year our Board is continuing to build on the foundation set by our past volunteers. With the guidance of a wide range of members, we have made slight revisions to our strategic plan and are working to continue to bring you value. Our goals include 1) WVAND is recognized as a key to professional success, 2) WVAND improves the health of West Virginians, and 3) the public trusts and chooses Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) as food and nutrition experts.

Many thanks to the website committee who have volunteered their time and talent to refresh our website so that it is more user friendly and the content is more beneficial for you. We hope you like it and begin to use the site as your 'go to' site for all things dietetics in the state.

Please save the date for the WVAND Annual Conference, May 11 and 12, 2017 at Marshall University in Huntington. I'm enjoying watching some of the behind the scenes work that the conference planning team are doing to make our conference exciting and pertinent, as well as, others who are scheming up a memorable 75th anniversary Gala.

Many thanks to ALL of you, our members and volunteers. Without YOU, WVAND would not exist!

Members, remember to submit your posts and photos to the WVAND Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/eatrightWV/ We want to see the ways YOU are 'bringing the science of food and nutrition to tables across the Mountain State!'
