WVAND is a professional, not-for-profit voluntary organization of approximately 350 Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Dietetic Technicians Registered (DTR), and dietetic students who offer expert food and nutrition advice and information for the promotion of optimal health and well-being.
The primary purpose of WVAND is to advocate policies and regulations that:
WVAND RDNs and DTRs are trained to explain scientific, evidence-based research into food and nutrition practice settings that include hospitals, long term care facilities, colleges and universities, public health and community agencies, school districts, health and fitness centers, sports teams, state and government agencies, private practice and more. Our members make up a network of health professionals throughout West Virginia ready to serve as resources to the public, media and public policy makers.
The West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is a registered 501(c)(6) professional organization committed to serving the public through the promotion of optimal nutrition, good health and well-being. WVAND was officially recognized as an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) in 1942.
It is the vision of the members of the West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to positively impact the health of West Virginians through food and nutrition by empowering members to be West Virginia's food and nutrition leaders.
